The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services’ (Iowa HHS) Public Health Division, Bureau of Environmental and Local Public Health, Environmental Health Section is seeking aPrivate Well Grant Coordinator- Community Health Consultant. Summary: The Bureau of Environmental and Local Public Health seeks to hire a Private Well Grants (PWG, formerly Grants to Counties) Coordinator to manage all activities of the PWG program. Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Health Section Supervisor, the Private Well Grants Coordinator will develop application guidance, develop review tools, approve claims for payment, and provide technical assistance to contractors on Iowa Grants issues. Responsibilities: This individual will maintain and update the PWG program guide and all technical guidance developed in collaboration with the Iowa DNR. This position will be responsible for ensuring that program guidance is applied consistently across Iowa. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing a compliance review process for the PWG program contracts. This individual will maintain a compliance review tool, track results and issue corrective action plans for each review. In addition, this position will provide technical assistance to PWG programs to make improvements to local programs. To enhance visibility of the PWG program, the Private Well Grants Coordinator will collaborate with other state agencies and partners to ensure visibility and coordination on program goals, analyze and disseminate data, and share resources. In conjunction with Iowa DNR and local partners, this position will develop and maintain statewide promotional material to showcase the PWG program. The Coordinator will collaborate with other Environmental and Local Public Health bureau team members to ensure that contract programs across the bureau are managing contracts and using the Iowa Grants management platform in a consistent way. In conjunction with the environmental health consultants, this individual will ensure that new local public health staff receive a comprehensive training on the PWG program as part of their onboarding experience. Requirements: The ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator, possess active listening and technical assistance skills, and have experience managing contracts at a county or state level. The successful candidate must have a systems thinking approach and knowledge of how to implement process improvement. Applicant must pass a background check prior to employment.
